Meet the Midwife

Hello and welcome! I'm Laura Browning, owner of Sage Roots. I'm a senior student midwife and trained birth and postpartum doula. I am attending Mercy in Action College of Midwifery and apprenticing under the Home Sweet Home midwives. I am also currently certified through Birth Arts International as a doula and have cross-trained with Still Birth Day and Birth Coach Method.

I'm also a mother and wife. I have four beautiful children who are currently 11, 9, 5, and 3 years old. Of course, I can't leave out my wonderful husband, even though he would rather I not list his age.

I have an entire blog post about how I came around to becoming a doula and later a student midwife. But the short of it is this: What do you do with a BA in English? Become a doula and then go back to school to be a midwife!

Our History

Sage Roots officially began in April 2016 providing birth and postpartum doula services. Later we added childbirth education and in 2024 home birth midiwifery care under supervision.
