Birth & Postpartum Doula
A doula is a trained, non-medical professional who provides informational, emotional and practical physical support throughout pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period.
More simply put, a doula is a guide and companion: there to assist the mother and her family before, during and after childbirth. Doulas listen to your concerns & wishes, help you find answers to your questions and soothe you during labor, all while remaining unbiased.
Why hire a Doula?
All kinds of reasons! Doulas are for all births: medicated, non-medicated, cesarean, hospital, birth-center, or home. A doula brings knowledge and experience to each kind of birth. Every birth is beautiful! You choose what’s best for you and I will support you without judgement through the entire process.
A postpartum doula is an excellent service because all mothers and families can benefit. Whether you’re a first time mom, going on your fifth, expecting multiples, or even adopting. No matter your journey to get there, that postpartum period is an incredible milestone in a family's life that goes by all too quickly. Special, tailor made support for mom and family can make a difference by helping all adjust, bond and grow together.
Birth is an everyday miracle. It's amazing to witness how wonderfully created a woman's body is and to see new life come into the world. Each birth is as unique as the woman and child. When a woman finds her birthing and mothering rhythm it's like tapping into a deep well of intuition, hope, and fierce intensity. It's my goal to help a mother find that strength that's already within herself, no matter what kind of birth she chooses and no matter what curve balls life throws her way. It's truly an honor to be a woman's doula.
I'm always looking for ways to better serve my clients and women in my community. Recently, I have teamed up with Carolyn Massengale, CD(DONA) to offer short, intensive Childbirth Education Classes. These will be ongoing so if you are interested, please contact me for more information. Please note, each class will have a limited spots available, so don't wait to sign-up! I'm also currently working on, but not yet offering, cloth diapering consultations.
In the mean time, join me in discussion on all things birth and postpartum via one of my many social media platforms (listed below). I'm mostly on Facebook and Instagram, but I enjoy Pinterest and Twitter, too! Join in the conversation and get to know me a little better by 'liking' and 'following.'
