Meet the DoulaHello and welcome! I'm Laura Browning, owner of Sage Roots. I'm a birth and postpartum doula currently certified through Birth Arts International. I have cross-trained with Still Birth Day and Birth Coach Method.
I'm also a mother and wife. I have four beautiful children who are currently 8, 7, 3, and 1 years old. Of course, I can't leave out my wonderful husband, even though he would rather I not list his age. I have an entire blog post about how I came around to becoming a doula. But the short of it is this: What do you do with a BA in English? Become a doula! If you'd like to get to know me better you can contact me here, follow me on Facebook, or check me out on Instagram. |
Who We Are |
Sage Roots is committed to mothers: It's my job to listen to her without judgement, accept her choices, and bluster her voice (not insert my own). I'm committed to helping each mother who chooses me as her doula discover for herself what kind of birth experience she desires and how best to get there.
That being said, nothing about birth is guaranteed. We will discuss what to do if/when things don't go as we had hoped. You see, your birth experience isn't just about vaginal or cesarean, epidural or no medication, hospital or home. It's also about making sure your voice is heard and respected, your options are known and understood. No matter what choices you make, I support your right to make them by giving you information* without judgement and supporting you emotionally and physically during pregnancy, labor, birth and beyond. *I am not a medical professional and I do not perform any clinical services. I do not give medical advice or contradict any advice given to you by your doctor/midwife. Any suggestions I give cannot be taken as medical advice. |
Our History |
Sage Roots officially began in April 2016 but, the journey to it's birth began long before then. I wrote a blog post with more detail about what inspired me to become a doula. You can check that out here.
